Things to do before and after procedure

Before laser hair removal

Before your laser treatment, please consider the following factors:

  1. For at least four weeks, avoid waxing, threading, or tweezing in the area. Shaving is acceptable during this time.

  2. For your safety, do not use self-tanner or spray tan products for at least two weeks before your treatment.

  3. Avoid direct sunlight for at least three days prior to your appointment (and three days after).

  4. In order to avoid irritation, please do not apply lotions, oils, creams, or fragrances to your skin.

After laser hair removal

The following are things you should avoid:

  1. In order to relieve pain, discomfort, or irritation, apply an ice pack to the treated area.

  2. For 48 hours following treatment, wear loose clothing to avoid friction on the treated area.

  3. It is imperative to keep the treated area clean and dry for 48 hours following treatment.

  4. It is highly recommended that you apply aloe vera gel or calming creams for 3 days after the treatment.

  5. During the first two weeks of post your treatment, use sunscreen containing zinc and SPF 50.

The following are things you should avoid:

  • If blistering or crusting occurs on the treatment area, avoid scratching it, as this may result in scarring.

  • Within 24 hours, no makeup, lotion, moisturizer, or deodorant shall be applied. If further irritation or redness persists, skip makeup, moisturizer, and deodorant (underarms) until the irritation subsides.

  • For at least 48 hours after treatment, do not apply makeup to the treated area.

  • It is recommended to avoid applying perfumed products or bleaching creams for 48 hours after treatment.

  • For 72 hours following treatment, the treated area should not be shaved.

  • Keep the treated skin free of excessive scrubbing for 4-5 days so the skin can heal and prevent infection.

  • During the next seven days, avoid hot devices and spa treatments.

  • During the first two weeks following treatment, it is imperative not to expose your skin to ultraviolet light (sunlight or sunbed) or self-tan.

As a guideline, we recommend the following treatment schedule:

  • Face Area: Every 4-6 weeks

  • Upper Body Area: Every 6-8 weeks

  • Lower Body Area: Every 8-10 weeks
